Beginning of the Semester
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I imagine using art in my lesson plans. I would like for my students to be able to tell stories through drawing. I hope they will be able to draw examples with what I will be teaching. I will have my students take advantage of any chance to include art into their lesson.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I know that integrated learning is combining subjects together. An example would be: teaching a social studies unit through an art project. Any two or more subjects that can be combined and work together are examples of integration.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I am comfortable making art but I am not sure that it will be perfect. I am a perfectionist and I will put a lot of time and effort in to my projects and I hope that they will turn out the way I envision.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I am not as comfortable analyzing art as I am making art. I would be unsure if my analysis was correct or on the right path. I hope to overcome this insecurity.

End of the Semester
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I imagine that I will use art in my classroom each day. I will have students sketch their stories and add more details when it is publishing time. I want my students to be free to use art with many projects and express themselves in the way they are most comfortable with.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I now know that integration is putting subjects together. I originally thought it could only be done simply with two subjects but I now know that it is possible to integrate with many subjects to make one lesson/unit. I now know that it is not as much work as I originally thought. After having a semester of practice it is already easier and I can only imagine how much easier it will get with more practice.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
I am extremely comfortable making art now. I have realized that I might not ever get something to where I think it is perfect, but that is not the most important part. I have been able to learn lessons from the studios we have done and I know see that those lessons are the most important part. I am seeing the deeper meaning to why we have done things and I will strive to help my students to also see those meanings.
4. Rate your comfort level in analyzing and talking about art, and discuss.
Uneasy 1 2 3 4 5 Comfortable
After taking part in VTS I now feel so much more comfortable analyzing and discussing art. Now that we have done many examples of VTS I see how much I have learned from the things I think and hearing what my classmates think. It is amazing that this one activity has completely changed my views and given me much more confidence than I started the semester with.
